Following your dreams
It has long been a dream of mine to be able to ride my horse bareback and bridleless. Whilst I have done a lot of this on another horse I trained, Sid, I have spent little time riding like this on Bonnie. Bonnie appears to be quiet and for the most part she is. But she is also very introverted and doesn't share her feelings with you, leaving you second guessing, where as Sid, was extremely extrovert and hot, being part Arab. Strangely enough I felt more confident riding him Bareback and bridleless - my theory was at least I new what mood he was in. Bonnie tends to be more robotic in her personality and you have to constantly work on the relationship, building her trust.
Besides pleasure riding, I also love dressage, so I thought I would combine the two together and do a bareback and brideless dressage test. This would test all of my skill, expertise and trust with my horse and most likely take me a couple of years to achieve.
In short it will be "My Truth" with Bonnie.
I have decided to keep a record of my journey to share with you and to hopefully inspire you also.
Remember, the long way is the short way, and to achieve such a big goal means I need to working firstly on the foundation training with Bonnie, it's the little things that matter the most.
The other most important aspect of this goal is that I have chosen a mentor and instructor who has already achieved this herself, Kailie Nott. Kailie is a Classical Dressage Instructor who has a holistic approach to her teaching.
She will be guiding me through my journey, helping me train Bonnie and teach me the time and feel required for each little part that makes up the entire picture. I hope you enjoy watching these as Kailie shares some very insightful information throughout my lessons.
I must also acknowledge my wonderful husband Jason, who so kindly gave me Bonnie. Jason started and trained Bonnie for several years before he gave her to me and I thank my lucky stars everyday to have such a wonderful teacher and horse.
One last thing I'd like to say is that I am a mother, wife, house cleaner, courier, cook and business owner who unlike my husband does not work with horses all day everyday, they are my lifestyle and my fun, so like many, I may miss a week here or there and I may not practice as much as I always should. But, I have set the goal and I will achieve it to the best of my ability and I will do my best never to compromise my relationship with Bonnie in the process.
